The most recent statistics for 2008 showed that 11,773 people were killed across the country in alcohol related car crashes. This represents a 9.7 percent decreased from 2007 in alcohol impaired driving fatalities. Tampa criminal lawyers credit this drop in alcohol related fatalities to a number of things: the failing economy in which people do not have as much discretionary spending money for things such as alcohol; tougher repeat offender laws in many states and several states most recent implementation of a new program in which younger adults – mostly teens – convicted of DUIs are sent to their county morgue or are forced to spend a night in prison as a way of ‘shocking’ them into stopping their dangerous drunken driving behavior. There is currently no official data on if this ‘shock therapy’ is working or not, but hopes are high that these young people are being ‘scared straight’.
A Tampa DUI lawyer remarks that many cities and states allow DUIs to pile up before the person is slapped with jail time. Unless they have killed someone while drinking and driving, they usually get a reduced sentence and are back on the streets in a matter of days. In Wisconsin for example, in order to enact tougher penalties on drunk drivers, for people convicted of seven or more DUIs, which will be placed in prison for an amount of time to be determined by the judge. This prompted Mothers against Drunk Drivers (MADD) to say that “Wisconsin is a state in deep denial because the first DUI offense is nothing more than a civil penalty”.
Mothers against Drunk Drivers are strong proponents of the Ignition Interlock Systems in which the driver must basically take a Breathalyzer test before the ignition of their vehicle will start. It does not matter whether the person has been drinking beer or wine, it matters the amount of what they have been drinking and if the Ignition Interlock System detects anything near the .08, or if it’s set at .04 or anywhere in between, then the vehicle will not start and a driver must call a cab or find another way home.

A DUI Attorney Tampa, Florida could increase their income by employing several different Internet marketing methods in order to bring more clients to the real world brick and mortar location. Every business, especially those who only deal in the real world like an attorney, should have an Internet presence in order to reach those people who search the Internet for what they need and want over all other media including their local phonebook, newspapers, magazines, television or radio advertising.
One of the best-known Internet marketing methods available to all websites on the Internet is search engine optimization or as SEO. Search engine optimization is the act of placing keyword rich articles on a Tampa criminal lawyers website in order to gain the attention of the three major search engines – MSN, Google, and Yahoo! These three major search engines send out “feelers” in order to locate the keywords and keyword phrases on the websites and then rank the websites according to a special formula. Keywords and keyword phrases are the words potential clients use in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find the type of lawyer or attorney they need. For example, a person would put the keyword phrase DUI attorney in the search box on one of the search engines which would then bring back a long list of DUI attorneys. By placing a geographical location in front of the keywords, the search engine will bring back a list of DUI attorneys in that particular geographical area of the world. Local search optimization is placing a geographical notation in front of a keyword or keyword phrase.
Search engine optimization or local search optimization will help bring more clients to a criminal lawyer or DUI attorney by having a high ranking on the major search engines by using several keyword rich articles placed on their website and other places throughout the Internet. One often overlooked place to put a keyword rich article is an Internet news website. Internet news websites are always on the lookout for well-written and informative articles as filler on a slow news day or just to help educate their readership on products and services they may not have otherwise known about.
A link exchange or a full article exchange with a business and website would do two things for both businesses: one it would increase both business’ customer or client databases and two, it would raise the search engine ranking for both companies. An article exchange may or may not be relevant to the other website or business. For instance, a DUI attorney could exchange an article with a Tampa closets designer because of their proximity to each other.
By using search engine optimization, local search optimization and link exchanges or article exchanges, a DUI attorney or criminal lawyer could bring more clients through their website and into their real-world brick-and-mortar location thereby increasing their income by increasing their number of clients.
