Countless Hollywood actors and actresses along with Broadway stars receive HGH injections or use HGH supplements in order to feel younger and looked younger because HGH has been touted as a miracle drug, better than Botox and many feel it might be safer because it is a natural forming hormone that is already in the body.

Human growth hormones or HGH is made naturally by the pituitary gland, a pea sized formation at the base of your brain and just how much HGH the gland secretes determines how tall a person will become.  The pituitary gland slows production of the HGH somewhere in our mid 20’s and this is the height we are the rest of our lives.  In some children the pituitary gland does not work properly and they either suffer from dwarfism or gigantism.

There are medical conditions that require HGH supplements which are usually injections.  Kids with dwarfism can spur their growth with HGH and in adults; HGH is also used to treat rare pituitary tumors.  Human growth hormones are also used to treat AIDS related diseases; however all other uses of HGH are considered illegal.  Doctors can lose their medical license and even be arrested if giving patients HGH illegally.  Possession of HGH without a prescription is considered a crime and punishable for up to five years in prison.

Several athletes believe that HGH supplements will give them that competitive edge, they think it will help them build muscle mass and recover more quickly from injuries.  But there is no proven evidence that HGH will make a person run faster or hit a ball farther.  There are some studies however that has linked HGH to tissue growth and repair.  There are no conclusive studies that prove taking HGH improves athletic ability.

HGH side effectsA number of aliments or HGH side effects have been linked to the hormone usage from excessive acne to Corporal Tunnel to diabetes.  Additionally, some tests have shown that HGH can become addictive while stimulating the pituitary gland into making parts of the face, hands and feet grow freakishly large.
