Custom Frames in South Tampa Puts Final Touches on Customers Artwork Creations

custom frames in south TampaA frame shop in South Tampa contains everything someone would need to frame and display their photographs and prints, artwork, needlework, diploma or child’s creative work.

A custom frame shop should carry various kinds of wood frames from solid cherry wood to oak or maple to mahogany. There are frames that represent various groups such as feminine frames, masculine frames, wedding frames or children’s frames.

A lot of the wood frames have a large ‘lip’ or thickness to them as a new trend. There are photo frames that have as much as a 3 ½ wide boarder running all around the photo which tends to be smaller than the typical 5” x 7” photograph.

A custom Tampa framed prints shop will take a photograph or piece of artwork in any medium – paper, canvas, embroidery, metals or crayon and create a beautiful piece of wall décor for any home or office.

Some businesses, hotels and office buildings will take a piece of wallpaper that matches their existing wall covering and have an artist create a piece of artwork, whether it’s traditional look like a tree, flower or fish; or if the wallpaper had been crafted into something unrecognizable, yet still art, it will hang in the hallways to contrast the wall paper or bring out one color or pattern.

Many people are into do-it-yourself style artwork which encompasses paint by number kits or sting art, which are tiny nails hammered into a pattern and then the string is wound around the nails to form a unique looking design or computer enhanced or manipulated photographs that take an ordinary photograph and stretch it to almost unrecognizable limits or the popular stitching method of counted cross stitching or time-honored tradition of embroidery.

Memories are not always flat pieces of paper or material; they could be a baseball caught at a World Series game; a wedding floral arrangement or small bronze baby shoes and a photo. These items could all be placed in a memory box style picture frame that is basically a decorative display box for holding various unique items for all to see. Custom frames in south Tampa has several different styles of these memory boxes to show off a variety of knick-knacks and precious memories that one would like to elevate above the rest of their items.

Scientists Claim Paraffin Candles Bad for Health, NCA Disagrees

candlesMany of the candles on the market today, especially the cheaper ones which are made of paraffin wax, contain carcinogens and toxins that are released into the air when burned.  These toxins can be harmful to the environment and to one’s health even if the room is properly ventilated.

People have always known that candles that give off a black soot when burned, are not good for a person’s health. However now there is scientific proof from South Carolina State University and two of their top scientists who performed research on various types of candles.

The scientists found that over prolonged periods of time, in unventilated spaces, toxin levels generated by paraffin candles can reach potentially hazardous levels.  These toxins, the scientists said, could cause or aggravate health problems such as asthma or allergies.

In extreme cases, the scientists contend, that flame-generated toxins from a paraffin candle could increase the risk of a major disease, including cancer.

The National Candle Association (NCA) says these scientists have provided no data for review and their conclusions are based on unsupported data.  The NCA went on to say that many of the researchers’ assumptions have no basis in fact and their findings conflict with scientific evidence.

For this study the scientists burned paraffin candles for up to six hours in a small box and then analyzed the air for the results. Some of the candles were a scented candle while others were unscented, and it made no difference.

The scientists concluded that lighting an occasional paraffin candle would not be harmful; although lighting several paraffin candles day after day, or sitting in a bathtub with lots of paraffin candles surrounding the tub could become harmful to one’s health.

The NCA countered that one would become extremely wrinkled in a bathtub, not to mention cold, before the paraffin candles would cause harm.

It was also noted that soy candles and bees wax candles pose no threat when the same test was conducted.

It should be noted that the South Carolina State University test was sponsored by the US Department of Agriculture under a grant meant to boost sales of domestic farm products and the title of the survey was “Soybean Candles for Healthy Life and Well-Being.”
